site specific work for sound particle system and live painting
duration 20'
2018
Alberto Barberis - music, live electronics, coding
Stefano Giorgi - live painting
Bestiary for a microcosm is a sudden interaction between tangible materials and algorithms. The performance investigates the concept of force field using an analog system and a digital one. While Stefano Giorgi creates liquid spots and figures on eighteenth-century paintings with his special projection system, Alberto Barberis interlaces rough harmonies using the sounds coming from the painting-action itself and a specific particle system algorithm conceived for music composition and sound-spatialization. The immersive space generated by this dialog is an attempt to evoke imaginary microcosms, hidden entities, dust, emptiness.
